Sevan’s in the House
One of the five core values of Sevan Multi-Site Solutions is “Charity” (the other four: Integrity, Respect, Teamwork, and Excellence). In service of that value, a group of 10 employees volunteered at the Ronald McDonald house of Los Angeles on August 7, 2015. Over the span of 8 hours, the group worked together to plan, prepare, and cook homemade meals for approximately 60 family members staying at the house. This community outreach was in support of the “Our Meal of Love” program, where Sevan team members had the chance to help families in need from nearby children’s hospitals.
Members of the volunteer group included Sevan employees from Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Chicago, and New York. During their time volunteering, our team was provided the opportunity to learn a little about the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House. The house was originally opened in 1980. At the time, the house was only 16 rooms and 12,000 square feet, but in 1994 an additional 27,780 square foot was added. Today the property has the capacity to house 75 families a night.
This spacious facility allows for families to remain together each night during a loved one’s recovery, providing a “home away from home.” Since its inception, the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald house as provided a restful place for more than 30,000 families from all over the globe.
The mission of the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald chapter is: “To provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California.” Volunteers from Sevan were able to support this mission by providing an enjoyable meal for the families at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House, giving families time together with their children.
We hope that this news update encourages other Sevan team members to reach out and lend a helping hand. We also strongly encourage team members to share their stories with us to promote good causes and help spread the word for others who may be interested in getting involved.
